1. Water and Sanitation Systems

Water leaks are one of the most difficult and frustrating problems to fix.

  • Bathroom: Try filling the floor with water to see if it drains properly (is the slope level?) and if water is pooling or forming puddles.
  • Pipe joints: Turn on all the taps at full power and check under the sink or bathroom sink to see if there are any water leaks from the joints.
  • Toilet: Check the water pressure and flow to ensure it's smooth and doesn't overflow.

2. Electrical System

Safety is an issue that cannot be overlooked.

  • Sockets: Use a phase tester or try plugging in your phone charger at each outlet to check if the power is flowing normally.
  • Grounding System: Check that the consumer unit is fully grounded and that the automatic circuit breaker (Safe-T-Cut) is functioning correctly in case of an emergency.

3. Flooring, walls, and doors/windows (Finishing)

  • Tiles: Gently tap each tile with a coin or stick. If there is a hollow (resonant) sound, it means the mortar is not fully packed, and the tiles may loosen in the future.
  • Walls: Check for cracks and ensure the paint is evenly applied.
  • Doors and windows: Try opening and closing them to ensure they slide smoothly, don't stick, and that the locks work properly.
